Removal is the last option, not the first. When it is the right call, we do it in sections, on ropes, with the ground protected and the neighbours told.
Dead trees, storm-damaged trees, trees growing into plumbing or foundations, trees in the wrong spot for a build. We look at every one properly first: sometimes a weight reduction or deadwooding does the job for a fraction of the cost, and we will say so. When removal is right, the quote is written, the permit is handled, and the yard is clean when we leave.
Most of our removals happen in established suburbs with limited access, so the crew is set up for it: climbers, rigging, an Avant loader that fits through a side gate, and a chipper that takes everything on site.

We had a damaged tree that stood 14.5 metres high, very close to our house with limited access. The team arrived on the arranged day and felled the tree in stages, cleaning up as they went. The tree was chipped into their own truck on site and the cleanup afterwards was done particularly well. The remaining stump was in a difficult location to grind, but LiRo solved that problem without fuss.
From them organising the paperwork to get approval for the tree to be removed, to turning up on the day and getting excited watching the tree fall down. The boys cleaned everything up.

Questions about this service
Will my tree need a permit?
If it is over 8 metres tall, has a canopy over 8 metres wide, a trunk circumference of 1 metre or more at 1.4 metres, or is on the ACT Tree Register, yes. We measure at the quote. If approval is needed we prepare the arborist report and write the application; most come back in 2 to 4 weeks. Removing a protected tree without approval carries heavy fines and replacement planting orders, so we never skip this.
Do I have to plant a replacement?
If the ACT approves a removal you either plant two replacement trees for each one removed, or pay an offset contribution, currently $600 per tree capped at $1,200. We will tell you which applies before you decide.
Can you get a big tree out of a tight backyard?
Yes. Most of our removals are sectional: a climber takes the tree down in pieces, rigged and lowered on ropes, with the ground crew feeding the chipper. Where the tree or access calls for it we bring a crane in. Confirm: crane: owned or hired, and a photo

Quoted separately so you can see the number. We grind well below the surface, so you can turf, pave or replant over it. See stump grinding.
