Two ways in

Is it urgent, or can it wait for a quote?

Tree down, branch hanging, roof hit

24 hours, every day. We answer, we tell you honestly whether we can be there today, and we make it safe first and finish later if that is what the job needs.

Planned work: removal, pruning, stumps

Send a couple of photos and your suburb. Linus or Jayne comes back to you, usually the same day, with a site visit that week and a written quote before anything happens.

"Out of the 5 companies I contacted, Liro was the first to reply and the first to quote." Google review

LiRo climber making a pruning cut at the branch collar

Our one rule

We prune. We don't lop.

Lopping hacks limbs back to stubs. It looks like a big result on the day, and then the tree throws weak regrowth, opens up to decay, and becomes more dangerous than before. A lot of the calls we get are to repair someone else's lopping job.

Pruning is selective. Each cut is chosen, made at the collar so the tree can seal it, and limited to what the tree can afford to lose. It takes more thought and the tree is far better off. If a tree is beyond that, we will say so and quote a removal instead.

Linus and his team are enthusiastic about trees. They are willing to prune and balance canopies, as opposed to chop. A big difference, because trees are healthier and live longer with canopy care. I regularly refer clients to LiRo.

How it goes

From your first message to a swept driveway

Send photos, or call

A couple of phone photos and a suburb is enough. Weekend enquiries get answered too.

Site visit and written quote

Linus looks at the tree, tells you what it actually needs, and checks whether a permit applies. The quote is written, itemised, and free.

Paperwork, if there is any

If the tree needs ACT approval we write the application. Most permits take 2 to 4 weeks; we book you in for the day after it lands.

The crew turns up

On the day we said. Rigged, cut, chipped into our own truck, stumps ground if quoted, paths swept. Neighbours warned if the street is affected.

In their words

89 Google reviews. All five stars.

We had a damaged tree that stood 14.5 metres high, very close to our house with limited access. The team arrived on the arranged day and felled the tree in stages, cleaning up as they went. The tree was chipped into their own truck on site and the cleanup afterwards was done particularly well. The remaining stump was in a difficult location to grind, but LiRo solved that problem without fuss.

The team arrived right on time, efficiently removed the hedge, and cleaned up so thoroughly it was as if they'd never been there. In fact, they left the yard looking even better than before.

A1 advice and service. Great communication and all round top young blokes who've obviously been well trained. They knocked over an almighty job for me in my backyard, which they left squeaky clean. This is a top shelf outfit that will offer a competitive price and give you great peace of mind every step of the way.

Who turns up

Linus, and a crew that climbs

LiRo is owned and run by Linus, a Canberra local who started in gardens with a secondhand trailer and worked his way up into the canopy. Confirm: the origin story in his words: year started, first tree job

The crew is young, qualified, and the reviews keep saying the same two things: they know what they are doing, and they are good to have around. Certificate III arborists, fully insured, and a pink shirt you will spot from the end of the street.

Where we work

All of Canberra, and Queanbeyan

Based in Lyneham. Most days we are in the inner north and Belconnen, and we cover Gungahlin, Woden, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong, the inner south and Queanbeyan just as often. Confirm: outer radius: Bungendore, Murrumbateman, Yass, Googong?

Questions we get every week

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Canberra?

Often, yes. Under the ACT's Urban Forest Act 2023 a tree needs approval if it is over 8 metres tall, has a canopy wider than 8 metres, has a trunk circumference of 1 metre or more at 1.4 metres high, or is on the ACT Tree Register. We check this at the quote, and if a permit is needed we write the application for you.

How much does tree removal cost?

Most removals we do land between $200 and $2,000 plus, depending on size, access and what is around the tree. Stump grinding is quoted separately so you can see both numbers. Every quote is free, written, and comes before any work starts.

How quickly can you come out?

Quotes usually happen the same week, often within a day or two. Planned jobs are typically booked inside one to two weeks. Emergencies are different: call, and we will tell you straight away whether we can be there today.

Do you take the green waste away?

Yes. Everything is chipped on site into our truck and removed, unless you would like the mulch left for your garden. We sweep paths and driveways before we leave.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully insured. Confirm: public liability value We are happy to send a certificate of currency with your quote.
